“La Transazione” (The Transaction) is a 28-minute short, silent, black and white film about immigration. It was written and directed by Lora Lee Ecobelli and produced by Logan Rando Productions.

Set in 1893, it follows three Italian sisters at an Ellis Island inspection room who come to America for arranged marriages. The film strongly parallels the current immigration and humanitarian crisis. “La Transazione” is a true American story.

Unless you are a Native American, we all came from somewhere. Some came willingly and some through desperation or bondage. In revisiting our past, we get a glimpse of our future. “La Transazione” opens that door so we can understand the actions of our ancestors. The dreams and heartbreak that molded us. Whether it be cruelty and intolerance or racism and strife, sometimes the tiniest act of kindness can give us a momentary lifeline, helping us regain our purpose and our faith in humanity and ultimately shaping our ideals for future generations.

Powerful performances filled with humor and pathos and a stunning musical score by award winning composers Ellen and Roger Bruno tell this truly American story. The film is currently being submitted to film festivals around the world.

The film’s composers, Springfield residents, Ellen and Roger Bruno, will be available for a discussion period following the screening of the film.

The presentation will begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 15. There is a suggested donation of $5.00 for Members and $7.00 for Non-Members. Complimentary refreshments will be served after the talk.
