104 Roosevelt Ave Chicopee Ma 01013

Sandy /Denise

Benefit tag sale and raffle, to support Denise with the financial burden to regain her independence, community access and continue supporting students and families through educational advocacy. All proceeds from this benefit will be used to purchase a car with modifications needed for her to drive independently.

As you may know, Denise is a fierce advocate for students with special needs. In the world of special education advocacy, Denise is highly committed to each family she supports ; be it through court appointment, private hire or pro bono work.

Denise has a physical disability and drives with a specially equipped car. What you may not be aware of but, the cost in having a car equipped for her is in the thousands... on top of the price of a car.

Denise was born with spina bifida, a birth defect of the spine. Doctors told her parents to institutionalize her, but they did not. Schools put her in special education classes with children whom had learning disabilities, though she had none. Her parents fought for her! They taught her that she was capable of anything, and she proved them right!

Denise, having lived “the fight”, went on to becoming one of the most sought out educational advocate. This is not just her job, it’s her PASSION!

Denise has now been advocating for 20 years, helping over 5,000 families, many of them unable to pay, yet that never stopped her from supporting every family she encountered.

Recently, Denise has undergone several surgeries to help continue her independence but, unfortunately, each surgery has slowed that independence. This has left her unable to walk on her own, or even continue to drive. Denise has helped so many people in her lifetime, including the adoption of her children, whom have significant trauma and learning disabilities.

Each dollar raised from this tag sale and raffle will be put toward the equipment needed to get her from one meeting to the next, as well as give her the independence to get out in the community .

The full back story to her struggles is on her Go Fund Me page < a style="color: #385898; cursor: pointer; font-family: inherit; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: pre-wrap; word-spacing: 0px;" href="https://www.gofundme.com/community-access?fbclid=IwAR24g8SkzwAQrzYExdZKZWmmuxmgrXcKalo1oTdC-UzvrGvz7KUDFOsqbvc" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" data-lynx-mode="hover" data-lynx-uri="https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gofundme.com%2Fcommunity-access%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR24g8SkzwAQrzYExdZKZWmmuxmgrXcKalo1oTdC-UzvrGvz7KUDFOsqbvc&h=AT3m8y70-ZVwLwtfh7_J3WSs0yHROTRpx4dx6FS0Clc0SVKwIyPnLAkVvO4FApE5n2SiOXz2imFKzyl1yxEmx1QzkfVPMPYYUyj3PRSpYcTST5I-1Lyr1XiSBmYA_c9n2Q">https://www.gofundme.com/community-access?fbclid=IwAR1B75FLakoYapnRE3Lm-aQxhkpk--t2t1MWYGhWl7hZ5OKHfmAupisRUCM< /a>
