The new Amherst Dog Park is hosting a dog costume “Halloween Pawty” Sunday October 30 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Everyone – human and dog - is invited. Dogs are encouraged to show up in costumes of all sorts. Local vets and dignitaries will judge the costumes, and bestow awards for *Spookiest, *Most Original, *Owner/Dog Combo, *Funniest, and *Best Handmade costumes.
Located off Rt. 9 on Old Belchertown Road in Amherst, the dog park opened this summer with one and a-half acres of play space divided into large and small dog areas. The volunteer Friends of the Dog Park are responsible for maintenance and operation with help from the Town.
Costume prizes and gift certificates donated by local merchants. Cider donuts, cider and dog treats from Paw Street Bakery will be for sale. Music from DJ Greg Stewart. A $5 donation is suggested.
All dogs must be on leash unless they are inside the dog park.
