Illuminati Vocal Arts Ensemble, under the baton of interim conductor Arianne Abela, performs a concert of some of the most beautiful music of the Baroque era. Featuring J.S. Bach, ‘Komm, Jesu, komm,’ BWV 229 and ‘Jesu, meine Freude,’ BWV 227; Victoria, ‘O quam gloriosum’ and Missa ‘O quam gloriosum;’ and selections from Monteverdi, Missa ‘In illo tempore.’

Interim conductor Arianne Abela is Director of Choral Activities at Amherst College and is founding artistic director of Kaleidoscope Vocal Ensemble, a renowned professional choral group dedicated to the intersection of arts and social justice. She is a sought-after clinician in composition, conducting and DEIA initiatives. Abela founded the Detroit Justice Choir and Detroit Women’s Chorus, guest conducted with Detroit's OperaMODO and the Vancouver-based opera company, Re:Naissance, and has served as staff conductor for Berkshire Choral International. In 2012, Abela was featured on NBC's Today Show conducting her ensemble 3 Penny Chorus & Orchestra. They were semi-finalists on America's Got Talent, and recorded for the soundtrack of the Elizabeth Banks film Walk of Shame. Abela holds a doctorate from the University of Michigan, a master’s from Yale University, and a BA from Smith College.
