A free community event will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m. on the grounds of Springfield Partners for Community Action, Inc., 721 State Street in Springfield. Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs as well as other refreshments will be provided. Plenty of free parking is available at the location.
The purpose of the event is to promote awareness of the many free and low-cost programs offered to low-income individuals and families by Springfield Partners. These include home weatherization, early education and care, financial literacy classes, income tax preparation, housing and eviction counseling, veteran’s services, emergency fuel assistance, and more. Representatives from these programs will be on hand to explain their services and to answer questions.
The event is family-friendly, with games and activities for children, as well as raffle prizes. In case of rain, the event will be held indoors.
Springfield Partners for Community Action is the federally designated Community Action Agency (CAA) for the greater Springfield area, serving low-income individuals and families. Established in 1964 under the Economic Opportunity Act, Springfield Partners is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, SOMWBA-certified enterprise. The agency has over 50 years of experience providing services and advocacy to alleviate the conditions of poverty for area residents.
