Citizens Energy Corporation, a Boston-based nonprofit founded by Joseph P. Kennedy II, will be hosting a community open house to help income-qualified families apply for JOE-4-SUN to save $300 annually on their electric bills.
Subscription specialists will be at Springfield Partners for Community Action on Thursday, Oct. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., to accept applications and answer questions. Households will also enjoy snacks and a light lunch courtesy of Citizens Energy.
JOE-4-SUN is the largest low-income community shared solar program in Massachusetts and provides energy credits at a 50% discount to low-income families living in Eversource and National Grid service territories. Subscribers in the Springfield area will see their savings come directly from the 4.7-megawatt solar installation on Oak Street, near Indian Orchard.
