The West Mass Brass Ensemble, a complement of about 30 volunteer players forming a brass band in the British tradition, is celebrating their fifth year anniversary with free Spring, 2019 concerts. The Faith Community Chapel concert at 485 East Street, Ludlow is on Friday, June 14th at 7 PM' Admission is free to the public. The performance will last about an hour and a half and a free will offering will be accepted to support the band.
The other performances start at the Holyoke Soldiers Home on 5/25 (Sat.) at 2 PM and at the bandshell in Turners Falls on 6/8 (Sat.) at 2 PM (bring your own chairs).
The West Mass Brass Ensemble, started in September 2014, and is made up of capable brass band players who want a music challenge and who enjoy playing a variety of music with other serious players that come from all over Western Mass and Southern CT. The band practices once a week, and was started and is conducted by Ken McCance of Millers Falls, MA.
The mission of the band is to perpetuate British style brass banding. Its goals include providing challenging music to play in suitable settings and sharing the unique sound of a quality brass band with the public.
